Babies were born in Hong Kong, can claim for Hong Kong passport, have the right of permanent Hong Kong residence, lifespan free medical care and free 12-year education, 135 countries and territories visa-free in the world, right to access bilingual education in Hong Kong, knowledge of ’ bi-literate and tri-lingual ’ (English, Cantonese and Mandarin). ” This advertisement is promoting mainland parents to give birth in Hong Kong described all, what chinese parents had in mind.  With the increase of number of babies born in Hong Kong, these service providing companies are running hot sale, starting helping parents getting out of Mainland China, transferring to Hong Kong and organizing hospitals to give birth, further impact on encouraging Chinese parents to give birth in Hong Kong.


In recent years, so many desperate China parents paying high price to give birth in Hong Kong hospitals, from 2001 to 2011 in just 10 years, went to Hong Kong to give birth the number increased from 620 to about 40,000, actually increased 60 times!

Because 2012 is the Dragon year, too many Chinese parents wish to have a dragon baby. Hospital beds were fully booked in Hong Kong before September, special arrangement will cost mainland parent RMB 250,000 ($40,000 USD).

Compare giving birth in United States / Canada around RMB 150,000 ($24,000 USD), Hong Kong is becoming more expensive place to do so.  Canada health care cost is much higher than US. Due to the limited hospitals and resource in Hong Kong, more and more mainland parents consider spending their savings by giving birth overseas e.g. US and CA.

Penalty for second baby born in mainland is more than RMB 100,000 ($16,000 USD). More and more parents are tired of Chinese government “one child policy” and want to have more children and better social welfare for them.  Even paying to give second birth in Hong Kong RMB 250,000 ($40,000 USD), or United States / Canada RMB 150,000 ($24,000 USD), they fell more than worth of it.
